Transformational Coaching – From Capability to Presence

Client Overview

Two senior leaders within Solsta – a high-performing organisation — both technically credible, highly respected, and recognised for their expertise — sought support to strengthen their leadership presence in high-stakes environments.

The Challenge

Despite strong capability and experience, both leaders identified a common challenge:
they knew their functional areas very well but didn’t always feel they fully “owned the room.” The gap wasn’t technical competence. It was confidence, clarity, and consistency under pressure. Traditional leadership development wasn’t the answer. The focus needed to be practical, personal, and grounded in the realities of their day-to-day leadership conversations. Key challenges included:

  • Pinpointing the moments that mattered most

  • Practising in context rather than through abstract theory

  • Building repeatable frameworks to improve clarity of thought

  • Creating space for honest reflection and self-awareness

The Solution

A transformational coaching approach was designed around real-world leadership situations, helping both leaders strengthen their presence through focused practice and reflection.

The coaching process followed a simple but powerful rhythm:

Insight → Application → Reflection → Refinement

Sessions combined:

  • Context-based coaching and rehearsal

  • Practical communication frameworks

  • Real-time reflection and feedback

  • Techniques to improve confidence and decision-making under pressure

Rather than teaching leadership behaviours, the work focused on helping each individual uncover and strengthen their own authentic leadership presence.

The Outcome

The shift was both visible and fast. Both leaders reported:

  • Greater confidence in high-stakes conversations

  • Clearer, more decisive communication

  • A stronger sense of personal authority and presence

But the most significant transformation went beyond communication skills. They stopped trying to sound like leaders — and started showing up as one.
